Meet Garth
Garth’s journey is about more than racing. It’s a call to action — a bold mission to inspire positive climate impact, raise awareness of ocean health, and advocate for clean seas through science, sustainability, and storytelling - a story of human resilience and adventure.
A DIY Global Circumnavigation for Citizen Science and Ocean Health
Garth has been at the helm since the age of 10.
He grew up in Tasmania, and by his twenties, had already competed in two Sydney to Hobart Yacht Races, one of the world’s most grueling ocean events.
Garth has a wonderful Norseman 447 cruising cutter which he sails off the west coast of the USA and he has sailed in the UK, Europe, and the US, and is a proud member of the Pacific Single Handed Sailing Association.
His lifelong passion for the ocean is matched by his dedication to safety and preparation. Garth holds all the required offshore medical and safety certifications for entry into both the Transat and Mini Globe Race — a testament to his commitment, discipline, and professionalism.
