In 2029, Garth Paine will take on two of the most demanding challenges in solo sailing — the Transat and the Mini Globe Race, navigating the globe alone in a hand-built 19-foot Globe 580 sailboat.
The Mini Globe Race covers 28,000 miles and is limited to 20 entrants from around the world. It should take around a year to complete.
The first leg of the Mini Transpac to the Canaries is a qualifier, then follows a 3000-mile trip across the big blue from Lanzarote, Canary Islands to Antigua - across the Atlantic.
